Gambiered Silk Slip Dress

Cut from Gambiered silk — a fabric dyed entirely by hand using the tannin-rich juice of the Dioscorea cirrhosa yam root and mineral-rich river mud. Raw silk is soaked in the yam dye and sun-dried more than thirty times before the mud coating is applied, triggering a reaction between plant tannins and iron in the mud that turns the surface a deep, lustrous tone. The process gives the fabric its two-toned character — a darker face, a warmer reddish-brown reverse — and its distinct, slightly crisp hand-feel. No two lengths dye exactly the same.

A simple, bias-cut silhouette: adjustable spaghetti straps, a scoop neckline, and a floor-length, column-skimming drape. Minimal construction, letting the fabric do the work.
